About the JROTC Program

The JROTC Program at Interlachen High School has many benefits for Students who participate. Some of the Benefits are listed below:

¨ Physical Education

¨ Military style Discipline

¨ Leadership Education

Being a JROTC Unit, we help our community a lot, we depend on donations, fundraisers, and minimal government funds. We teach how to drill with and without a rifle and we also have a Drill team that meets after school. Our Drill team is for competing against other schools. In Class we learn about Military Structure, Leadership Traits (and how to improve them), American history, Court system Structure, First Aid, and much more.

There are After school activities such as Drill team, Color Guard, Raider Team, and Rifle Team. Drill team is marching around armed and unarmed. We also have Individual Drill, Squad Drill, and Platoon Drill. Color Guard Consists of a male and female squad and they present the colors at ceremonies. Raider Team is a physical endurance team, they learn how to tie a rope bridge and crawl across and they doo many other things involved in a military style obstacle coarse. Rifle Team is a sharpshooting team, they take aim at targets downrange and fire as close to center as possible, there are 3 positions to shoot from in a competition, Standing, Kneeling, and Prone.

We hope this has given you some insight about how JROTC operates and some of the fun things to do within the program. But the best way to experience all that was talked about is to go and join, talk to your counselor if you are interested in joining JROTC.
